(This is a parody Media Release issued without the consent or Knowledge of Virgin Media)

If the above media release was found to be true (which it’s not) what would your reaction be if you were a real estate agent in Australia or New Zealand?…

Is it time for Australian and Kiwi Real Estate Agents to lift their standards?

Is that industry ripe for disintermediation similar to Uber and Taxis and Airbnb and the Hotels and accommodation industries?

  1. Peter, thank god for you 🙂 Branson is known for identifying moribund industries and shaking them to the core, and the real estate industry certainly qualifies 🙂

For too long the industry has been determined to take advice only from within its own ranks, and the result has been the stagnation that we see today.

I hope that this article gets a viral boost and that agents and principals see it as a serious wakeup call.

  2. A shame not more comments here Peter; whilst a great parody…sometimes, many a true word is spoken in jest!! Of course, unlike a car ride and $25 vs. $50 fare, the investment and risk are not that great…and someone else still does the driving. In house sales, millions of people will not want to sell their own home…they want someone else to do the driving. So even those that think they hate agents will often go running to them as soon as thinking of selling. But there is certainly room in the market for an app-based economy which combines the best of old and new…and I wouldn’t be surprised if Sir Richard is already seriously looking at new models….globally. 🙂
